About Newmount Brass
Newmount Brass was offically formed in late February 2005. The band rehearses and is based at Newmount Methodist Church, Littleover, Derby.
The band has nearly thirty members, many of whom have entertained audiences across England for many years.
Newmount Brass, as the name suggests, is a brass band with cornets, horns, euphoniums, baritones, trombones and basses.
We are very proud of all we have achieved in the past few years. To celebrate our success in March of each year we have an anniversary party, where the band usually plays a small concert followed by the presentation of awards for most improved player (chosen by the musical director), bandsman of the year (voted for by each member) and best attendance.
On the 15th August 2006 Newmount Brass was very proud and honoured to be asked to perform at the Burma Star Assocation laying up of the standards at Derby Catherdral for the very last time. The band featured before and during the service which was later shown on both East Midlands Today and Central Tonight East.
The band has performed many concerts in its history including annual concerts such as West Hallam Well Dressings, Bridlington and local church concerts. We have also played at centerary events and Derby Mayor's gala evening.
